Pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNET) are frequent intracranial neoplasms, usually with indolent behaviour. However, a significant minority appear to be clinically aggressive, as suggested by early and frequent recurrences and resistance to standard treatments. Metastatic spread is rare.

The importance of the cervical sagittal balance in ACDF procedures on postoperative neck pain

To determine the possible relation between cervical sagittal balance and neck pain in patients having anterior cervical spine (ACS) surgery. Prospective study was made to compare the clinical and radiographic results of an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) surgery for contiguous two-level cervical degenerative disease (CDD).

Early experience with robot-assisted cysto-ventriculostomy

Endoscopic cysto-ventriculostomy is a minimally invasive approach for intracranial cyst treatment. However, inadequate visibility within cystic spaces often complicates identifying adjacent anatomical landmarks like the ventricle, leading to procedural challenges and potential conversion to craniotomy.

Transanal protrusion of ventriculoperitoneal shunt in the setting of appendicitis

Complications from ventriculoperitoneal shunts are varied. Perforation of hollow organs and subsequent natural orifice protrusion is a rare but well known complication. We report a case of a transanal protrusion of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) in the setting of previous abdominal pain possibly consistent with acute appendicitis.

Imaging characteristics of pineal region tumours

Due to their rarity and variability, pineal tumors may be misdiagnosed. The pineal region is best imaged with MRI, although CT and angiography may also play an important role. We demonstrate the typical features of the most frequent entities as well as of rare tumors and highlight the importance of a detailed radiological examination.

The role of middle meningeal artery embolization in the treatment algorithm for chronic subdural hemato- ma, latest evidence and our own experience

Chronic subdural hematoma is one of the most common diseases requiring a neurosurgical op- eration that affect elderly and fragile patients. In addition to standard neurosurgical operations (trepanation and cra- niotomy), embolization of the middle meningeal artery (MMA) is an alternative solution.

Sellar region tumors are one of the most common benign intracranial neoplasms. In case of hormonally active adenomas, the typical clinical symptoms help to set the diagnosis. In contrast, in case of non-functioning adenomas, incidental discoveries and compression symptoms dominate.
