Additive manufacturing has gained significant traction in industrial applications due to its high potential when it comes to manufacturing objects with complex geometry. It was noticed from early on that the medical field provides a great opportunity for 3D printing to prove its technological competence. Applications like presurgical planning often require a tailor-made solution for finding the most effective treatment for patients. Still, the time-consuming and labor-intensive nature of the regular 3D printing method, building material layer by layer from the bottom up, is holding back widespread adoption. However, little attention has been paid to developing novel, fast speed alternative technologies for creating an object layer by layer. Introducing an additional model-building direction may indeed speed up additive manufacturing substantially. This innovative concept would most likely open up new possibilities for enhancing and diversifying the application of 3D printing in clinical practice. The main focus of this paper is to present a comparative analysis of a set of spine geometries with different levels of deformity. I print these anatomical models with a traditional 3D printer, and a multi-directional method – that is, building an object from more than one direction. The same processing profile for nozzle diameter, layer thickness and infill settings was used when preparing the digital models for 3D printing. Based on those two sets of prints, we collect a selection of key manufacturing parameters, such as model and support material volume, total printing and post-processing time. Thereafter we digitalize the prints using hybrid, laser and led structured light combined 3D scanning technology and measure the distance between certain reference points of the original model and its 3D printed version. The analysis demonstrates that there are major differences in overall production time when original and multi-directional 3D printing is compared. Final results show that printing speed can be significantly improved while keeping the same level of dimensional accuracy. Based on our investigation, the newly developed and patented Duplex F2 (US11220045 B2) printer with Multidirectional Additive Production printing technology not only provides anatomical models faster and in a cost-effective manner but also ensures high manufacturing quality.

Not only other surgical and robotic fields, but minimally invasive procedures in spine surgery have undergone significant development in recent times. A demand emerged from both surgeons and patients to develop and perform these types of surgeries in order to prevent biomechanical and surgical complications.

Továbbá, a krónikus vese-, illetve szívelégtelenség esetén a 2-es típusú cukorbetegség is gyakrabban fordulhat elő.
