Superior gluteal artery perforator flap for the soft tissue reconstruction after resection of sacral tumors

Reconstruction of the soft-tissue defects following sacrectomy is challenging, usually requiring flaps to fill in the surgical cavity and to provide optimal wound healing. Vertical rectus abdominis and gluteal muscle flaps the gold-standard methods for soft tissue reconstruction after sacrectomy – are characterized by technically demanding preparation and necrosis or chronic atrophy in case of deteriorated blood supply.

Spinal intradural tumours are rare, with a reported incidence of 3 to 10 per 100 000 people. They frequently cause pain, followed by neurological deficits and sphincter dysfunctions. The role of neuroendoscopy in the evacuation of non-liquid chronic subdural hemorrhage

Chronic subdural hematomas are lifethreatening conditions whose incidence is increasing due to the frequent use of antiplatelet drugs. The “gold standard” of treatment is surgical relief by means of one or two borehole trepanations and temporary placement of a subdural drain.
