[Scientific research appearing in the literature proves that the effective rehabilitation of Covid-19 patients begins already in the phase of acute care. Aim: The purpose of the study is to assess nurses’ knowledge of rehabilitation along the lines of continuity of health care for Covid-19 patients. The research was conducted among nurses working in the care of Covid-19 patients by analyzing an online questionnaire. The selection criterion for participation in the study was that the respondent should work as a nurse during the study and in the pre-trial period in the field of Covid-19 hospital care. The questionnaire consisted of 25 closed-ended questions about rehabilitation care for Covid-19 patients, knowledge of disease-related damage, and rehabilitation-oriented care for Covid-19 patients. The nursing staff does not know the rehabilitation needs of patients with Sars-CoV-2 virus infection. Nurses identify rehabilitation with long-term goals rather than as a process appearing at every stage of patient care. Nurses have incomplete knowledge of both rehabilitation options and nursing roles. As a result of the pandemic, rehabilitation is also playing an increasing role in acute care. In the training of nurses, greater emphasis should be placed on the development of a rehabilitation approach and the education of knowledge. More effective patient care necessitates a change of mindset in nursing activities. ]

[From Initial Motivations to Potentially Continuous Failures or the Career Path of Healthcare Workers]

SÁGI Zoltán, SOÓS Veronika, RÓZSA-TÓTH Enikő , ÁGOSTON László, TÖRŐCSIK Kálmán

[The aim of our research was to get to know the health workers’ perception of the healthcare sector and career in general, and to reveal the opportunities and career paths they see, what motivates them and what would help individuals in shaping a positive vision of the future. We managed personal interviews with 25 healthcare workers during quantitative research, to learn about the prospects, desires and difficulties related to the healthcare sector. During the research, we selected interviewees based on job role and search status; we talked to nurses, doctors, active and passive job seekers as well. Based on the interviews, four different personas (attitude types) were emerged in relation to their opinion about the healthcare sector and the most important pain points related to work and career paths: 1. conscious builder, 2. proud-dedicated-responsible, 3. uncertain-condescending, 4. complaining-realist. The attitude of the personas is greatly influenced by the level of criticality felt towards the system and the level of awareness related to building their own career. The four personas (different types of attitudes) have a different approach to the job search within the healthcare sector and to the shortcomings of the system. Their need for change, the potential for displacement and even quitting the sector are different. ]

[Depression among health care workers during the Covid-19 pandemic ]

NÉMETH Anikó, IRINYI Tamás

[The present study assessed the severity of depressive symptoms among health care workers and its possible correlations with taking care of Covid-19 patients and with various sociodemographic and workplace related factors. The cross-sectional study was conducted with a self-constructed questionnaire from 27. January 2022 to 14. February 2022. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, chi-square tests and Spearman correlations (p<0.05). Different levels of depressive symptoms can be observed by 42.3% of the 10,285 responders. Depressive symptoms correlated with marital status, gender, years spentbeorking in health care, level of health care service and with time spent in Covid-19 provision. More severe depressive symptoms correlated with burnout, negative attitude towards Covid-19 vaccines. With age the severity of depression diminished. Working in the Covid-19 health service provision hadba negative impact on the mental state of health care workers. It is important to note here that the Beck Depression Inventory is not a diagnostic tool. ]

[The spread of the custom of decorating Christmas trees in hospitals]

HIRDI Henriett Éva

[The decoration of the first Christmas tree goes back four centuries. Hospitals also played an active role in the spread of this custom in Hungary in the 19th century. According to ethnographers and contemporary articles, pine trees were already decorated in children’s poor hospitals at Christmas in the mid-1850s, thanks to noble-minded donating ladies. Nowadays, healthcare professionals are the ones who try to create a Christmas atmosphere for patients within the walls of the hospital. ]

[The Role of Parents and Dental Hygienists in the Improvement of Children’s Oral Health]

FÜLÖP Gertrúd Henrietta , KRISTÓF-VARGA Erika, LOBANOV-BUDAI Éva, NÉMETH Anikó

[We wanted to assess the oral care habits of parents with kindergarteners in relation to self and their children. The study aimed to shed light on the importance of parental roles through the correlations between parental and infantile oral care. The online survey was conducted with a self-constructed questionnaire between June and September of 2022. Convenience sampling was used. Data were analyzed by the means of descriptive statistics and chi-square probes, all were conducted with IBM SPSS 20 (p<0.05). There were 98 answers included in the analyses. There were no correlations between brushing teeth together with parents and the number of caries (p=0.873) and fillings (p=0.746). There was no difference between children whose parents started brushing when the first teeth appeared and between those, whose parents started brushing only after all their teeth appaered regarding the number of caries (p=0.964) and fillings (p=0.970). The brushing habits of parents showed correlation with those of their children, e.g. duration (p<0.000). As there are obvious correlations between parental and infantile tooth brushing habits, the parents need to be informed about this. Dental hygienists could provide information in the kindergarten. ]

[Simulation in the Practical Training of Nurses]

VIZVÁRI László

[The field of healthcare is constantly developing, and the role of nurses is of paramount importance in the optimal care and treatment of patients. Practical education for nurses is essential to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to provide complex health care to patients. However, traditional hands-on teaching methods are time-consuming and sometimes offer limited opportunities to practice in varied and critical clinical situations.
This article reviews the place and benefits of simulation in the practical education of nurses. The simulation gives nurses the opportunity to practice handling different cases in a realistic, controlled environment, thus improving their decision-making skills and communication skills. After a brief historical overview, it will be presented what types of simulation tools and methods are available for the practical education of nurses and how they support the students’ knowledge acquisition and development.]

[The Legacy of Juan de Dios at the Dawn of Modern Nursing]

HEGYI Viola Katalin

[The aim of this paper is to provide information on the history and cultural context of the work of Saint John of God, who became the patron saint of nurses and health workers. Sixteenth-century Spain served as a cradle for the innovations of Saint John and his followers, who established hospitals and provided care for the sick and the poor at a time when the Church was immersed in theological debates and thus seemed to forget one of its main missions: humanitarian and charitable aid to those most in need. The development of the Hospitaller Order’s nursing and health care practices, far ahead of its time, including the implementation of rules and regulations for hospitals and the extraordinary training of health professionals, is analysed. The continued work of the Religious of St. John of God, who operate health care and social service institutions in more than 50 countries today, is highlighted. Overall, we wish to provide a historical and cultural overview of the role of nursing and health care in society in the transition from the Middle Ages to the Modern Age. For this purpose, an analysis of the corresponding medieval and contemporary historical literature has been carried out beforehand.]

[The Special Nursing Issues of Long-term Central Venous Cannula (port-a-cath) in Pediatric Care]

STREHÓ Virgínia

[Approximately 250-300 new paediatric cancer patients are diagnosed in Hungary every year. Due to the long-term treatment and to avoid frequent piercing of peripheral veins, long-term venous access (port-a-cath) is needed. These catheters are used in chemotherapy, cytostatic dilution therapy and palliative situations. Port-a-cath improves quality of life. The purpose of the study is to promote safe patient care by developing uniform guidelines.

I primarily used publications and guidelines published between 2018-2023, searching for uniform procedures and protocols related to the provision of port-a-cath.

The examination revealed that in modern care there are discrepancies and deficiencies in the care and management of these devices, which can lead to the development of catheter-related complications (e.g. CLABSI).

To provide safe patient care and to avoid complications, nurses need to be aware of important definitions and the correct procedure, which requires uniform guidelines.]

[A brief Introduction to the Concepts related to Telemedicina and a Review of International Experience in the Practical Application of Telephysiotherapy]

BACSKAI Katalin, NAGY Helga, LÁM Judit

[The events of the SARS-COV-19 pandemic have highlighted the need to focus on a number of tools and methods to improve the delivery of healthcare. Telemedicine can help in this innovation. The use of telemedicine during the Covid-19 pandemic was new in our country, but has long been used abroad. International experience, as well as that we gained during the covid pandemic, shows that the methodology is worth using in the domestic health care system in the future.  The primary aim of this paper is to introduce the concepts related to telehealth. A sub-objective is to briefly review international practice. With our study we want to help to increase the knowledge of health professionals about telemedicine.]
