[The decoration of the first Christmas tree goes back four centuries. Hospitals also played an active role in the spread of this custom in Hungary in the 19th century. According to ethnographers and contemporary articles, pine trees were already decorated in children’s poor hospitals at Christmas in the mid-1850s, thanks to noble-minded donating ladies. Nowadays, healthcare professionals are the ones who try to create a Christmas atmosphere for patients within the walls of the hospital. ]
[The present study assessed the severity of depressive symptoms among health care workers and its possible correlations with taking care of Covid-19 patients and with various sociodemographic and workplace related factors. The cross-sectional study was conducted with a self-constructed questionnaire from 27. January 2022 to 14. February 2022. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, chi-square tests and Spearman correlations (p<0.05). Different levels of depressive symptoms can be observed by 42.3% of the 10,285 responders. Depressive symptoms correlated with marital status, gender, years spentbeorking in health care, level of health care service and with time spent in Covid-19 provision. More severe depressive symptoms correlated with burnout, negative attitude towards Covid-19 vaccines. With age the severity of depression diminished. Working in the Covid-19 health service provision hadba negative impact on the mental state of health care workers. It is important to note here that the Beck Depression Inventory is not a diagnostic tool. ]
[We wanted to assess the oral care habits of parents with kindergarteners in relation to self and their children. The study aimed to shed light on the importance of parental roles through the correlations between parental and infantile oral care. The online survey was conducted with a self-constructed questionnaire between June and September of 2022. Convenience sampling was used. Data were analyzed by the means of descriptive statistics and chi-square probes, all were conducted with IBM SPSS 20 (p<0.05). There were 98 answers included in the analyses. There were no correlations between brushing teeth together with parents and the number of caries (p=0.873) and fillings (p=0.746). There was no difference between children whose parents started brushing when the first teeth appeared and between those, whose parents started brushing only after all their teeth appaered regarding the number of caries (p=0.964) and fillings (p=0.970). The brushing habits of parents showed correlation with those of their children, e.g. duration (p<0.000). As there are obvious correlations between parental and infantile tooth brushing habits, the parents need to be informed about this. Dental hygienists could provide information in the kindergarten. ]
[The aim of our research was to get to know the health workers’ perception of the healthcare sector and career in general, and to reveal the opportunities and career paths they see, what motivates them and what would help individuals in shaping a positive vision of the future. We managed personal interviews with 25 healthcare workers during quantitative research, to learn about the prospects, desires and difficulties related to the healthcare sector. During the research, we selected interviewees based on job role and search status; we talked to nurses, doctors, active and passive job seekers as well. Based on the interviews, four different personas (attitude types) were emerged in relation to their opinion about the healthcare sector and the most important pain points related to work and career paths: 1. conscious builder, 2. proud-dedicated-responsible, 3. uncertain-condescending, 4. complaining-realist. The attitude of the personas is greatly influenced by the level of criticality felt towards the system and the level of awareness related to building their own career. The four personas (different types of attitudes) have a different approach to the job search within the healthcare sector and to the shortcomings of the system. Their need for change, the potential for displacement and even quitting the sector are different. ]
[Scientific research appearing in the literature proves that the effective rehabilitation of Covid-19 patients begins already in the phase of acute care. Aim: The purpose of the study is to assess nurses’ knowledge of rehabilitation along the lines of continuity of health care for Covid-19 patients. The research was conducted among nurses working in the care of Covid-19 patients by analyzing an online questionnaire. The selection criterion for participation in the study was that the respondent should work as a nurse during the study and in the pre-trial period in the field of Covid-19 hospital care. The questionnaire consisted of 25 closed-ended questions about rehabilitation care for Covid-19 patients, knowledge of disease-related damage, and rehabilitation-oriented care for Covid-19 patients. The nursing staff does not know the rehabilitation needs of patients with Sars-CoV-2 virus infection. Nurses identify rehabilitation with long-term goals rather than as a process appearing at every stage of patient care. Nurses have incomplete knowledge of both rehabilitation options and nursing roles. As a result of the pandemic, rehabilitation is also playing an increasing role in acute care. In the training of nurses, greater emphasis should be placed on the development of a rehabilitation approach and the education of knowledge. More effective patient care necessitates a change of mindset in nursing activities. ]
