Perioperative complications of peripheral nerve surgery

ANDRIJA Savić, MILAN Lepić, ALEKSA Mićić, JOVAN Grujić, ALEKSANDRA Stojiljković, LUKAS Rasulić

Peripheral nerve surgery has rapidly advanced, offering promising treatments for various neurological disorders and traumatic injuries. However, this progress also brings the potential for complications, emphasizing the importance of understanding their occurrence, prevention, and management.

Functional recovery after surgical treatment of the radial nerve injury

SLAVKO Djuraskovic, LAKICEVIC Novak, RASULIC Lukas

The radial nerve is the main extensor of the upper extremity and its injury leads to hand drop and inability to put a hand in a functional position, which produces disability in patients every day and work activities with big socioeconomic problems.

Fractal analysis of childhood cerebellar tumors

MEZEI Tamás, BÁSKAY János, MARKIA Balázs, VÁRALLYAY Péter, BANCZEROWSKI Péter, POLLNER Péter

Pilocytic astrocytomas, embryonal tumors, and ependymomas are the most prevalent types of pediatric posterior fossa tumors. Preoperative knowledge of the pathological diagnosis may facilitate optimal surgical management. The intricate geometry of these tumors can be characterized using various metrics, including fractal geometry parameters, which are instrumental in describing irregular and rough shapes. Our objective was to perform fractal analysis of pediatric posterior fossa tumors to identify potential new radiological biomarkers.

Aggressive pituitary tumours – the first Hungarian experiences

ANNAMÁRIA Kövesdi, CSABA Sumánszki, BÁLINT Scheich, LILLA Reiniger, HAJNALKA Rajna, SIPOS László, CZIRJÁK Sándor, NAGY Gábor, NYILAS Nóra, VÁRALLYAY Péter, JÁNVÁRY Levente, SINKÓ Dániel, BARSI Péter, SZŰCS Nikolette , TŐKE Judit, KORBONITS Márta, TÓTH Miklós

Pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNET) are frequent intracranial neoplasms, usually with indolent behaviour. However, a significant minority appear to be clinically aggressive, as suggested by early and frequent recurrences and resistance to standard treatments. Metastatic spread is rare.

Comparison of anterior column reconstruction techniques after en bloc spondylectomy: a finite element study

POKRINI Ágoston Jakab, TURBUCZ Máté, KISS Rita Mária, ELTES Peter Endre, LAZARY Aron

Total en bloc spondylectomy (TES) effectively treats spinal tumors. The surgery requires a vertebral body replacement (VBR), for which several solutions were developed, whereas the biomechanical differences between these devices still need to be completely understood.

Functional outcomes and quality of life following surgical treatment for isolated median nerve injuries: A retrospective study

ALEKSANDRA Stojiljkovic, ANDRIJA Savić, MILAN Lepić, ALEKSA Mićić, JOVAN Grujić, LUKAS Rasulić

Median nerve injuries profoundly affect hand function and overall quality of life (QOL) due to their central role in fine motor skills and sensory perception. Surgical intervention plays a crucial role in restoring hand function and enhancing patient well-being.

New isolation protocol of human astrocytes from brain

GRADISNIK Lidija, VELNAR Tomaz

In vitro organ culture systems with living nerve cells are very attractive for investigating the mechanisms of neurotrauma and neurodegeneration. Astrocytes are a particular focus of research.

Surgical Techniques and Outcomes of Anterior (ALIF) and Oblique (OLIF) Lumbosacral Fusions

SZABÓ Viktor, BERTA Balázs, NAGY Máté, KULCSÁR Dominik, SCHWARCZ Attila

Anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) is a well-described and widely applied surgical technique to treat lumbosacral degenerative spine diseases. Our paper would like to demonstrate that the right-sided oblique approach (OLIF) to the lumbosacral segment represents an equivalent alternative to the conventional ALIF approach.
