Chronic subdural hematomas are lifethreatening conditions whose incidence is increasing due to the frequent use of antiplatelet drugs. The “gold standard” of treatment is surgical relief by means of one or two borehole trepanations and temporary placement of a subdural drain.

Large hemispheric infarction occurs in 10% of stroke cases, resulting in progressive cerebral edema and secondary nervous system damage alongside primary brain injury. Decompressive craniectomy (DC) has shown promising outcomes in mitigating mortality and morbidity associated with malignant cerebral edema (MCE).

Optic pathway gliomas may occur in any location along the optic pathway. There is no standardized optimal treatment for this disease. Surgical removal can be risky considering the involved structures, on the other hand the due to the usually benign histopathology oncotherapy is often ineffective.
