Relief of degenerative scoliosis-induced back and lower extremity pain with spinal cord stimulation in polymorbid patients

NAGY Máté, JUHÁSZ Annamária, ZSUZSANNA Aschermann, KOVÁCS Márton, HARMAT Márk, KOVÁCS Norbert , BACSA Eszter, BERTA Balázs, SCHWARCZ Attila, BALÁZS István

Degenerative scoliosis, which is not relieved by conservative treatment, is mainly treated by direct spinal surgery. However, conventional direct spinal surgery under general anaesthesia may be associated with an increased risk of morbidity and increased surgical complications. The relatively minimally invasive spinal cord stimulation analgesia method, which can be performed under local anaesthesia, percutaneously and with less surgical stress, may offer an alternative and longterm analgesic therapy in such cases.

Spinal CT or MR angiography can reliably detect the feeding level of spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas

VARALLYAY Peter, BERENTEI Zsolt, MACHOVITSCH Ágnes, NARDAI Sándor, SZIKORA István

DSA is the gold standard in the diagnosis of spinal dural arteriovenous fistula (sDAVF). However, catheterization of all the possible feeding segment arteries is time consuming with a large dose of radiation and contrast media. Our goal was to evaluate the capability of spinal CTA and MRA to determine the feeding level of the fistula.

Predicting sensory outcomes with machine learning in deep brain stimulation

HALÁSZ László, BASTIAN E. A. Sajonz, MIKÓS Gabriella, GIJS van Elswijk, SAMAN Hagh Gooie, VÁRKUTI Bálint, VOLKER A. Coenen, ERŐSS Loránd

In clinical deep brain stimulation (DBS) applications, stimulation-induced sensations are typically viewed as undesired side effects. However, in emerging contexts such as computer-brain interface applications, intentionally inducing sensations may be desirable.

CSF overproduction causing internal body cavity distension: choroid plexus hyperplasia-induced anomalies in children with VP shunt

IVÁN Dominik, KOLUMBÁN Bálint

Diffuse villous hyperplasia of the choroid plexus (DVHCP) is a rare congenital condition, characterized by enlarged but morphologically normal choroid plexuses, and associated with hydrocephalus due to excessive CSF production. In recent years, we encountered two cases in which radiological and histological findings confirmed DVHCP.

New perspectives in neurosurgery: Augmented reality

ORBAY Péter, SIPOS László

Augmented reality (AR) is a set of different technologies, all aiming to project virtual content into the real environment, compared to virtual reality, where the user is immersed in a computer generated world. Neurosurgery has always been at the forefront of this technology, and gives the greatest contribution to the literature.
