With the advancement in stroke care, performing Mechanical Thrombectomy (MT) has become a fundamental consideration in cases of major vessel occlusion, as initiating reperfusion therapy holds the key to achieving positive clinical outcomes. The effectiveness of MT is undeniable; however, alongside the deterioration resulting from the stroke event, it is essential to monitor possible complications associated with MT intervention in the 24 hours following care. As these complications may lead to life-threatening conditions, it is necessary to place these patients in a sub-intensive or intensive care unit. Nurses have a crucial role in preventing, monitoring, and early detection of complications for timely intervention. In our presentation, we will review the nursing aspects of thrombectomy-related complications.

Critical role of acquisition and postprocessing in fMRI language mapping

ANDRÁSSY Anita, SZUDI Gábor, VÁRALLYAY Péter

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is crucial for presurgical language mapping in neurosurgery, helping identify eloquent brain regions to preserve during operations. Effective language mapping depends on advanced fMRI acquisition and detailed data analysis to ensure accurate clinical outcomes.

Decompressive hemicraniectomy following mechani- cal thrombectomy in emergent large vessel occlusions for patients with malignant cerebral edema

BENKŐ Zsolt, NARDAI Sándor, BENKŐ-ZAJA Gréta

Large hemispheric infarction occurs in 10% of stroke cases, resulting in progressive cerebral edema and secondary nervous system damage alongside primary brain injury. Decompressive craniectomy (DC) has shown promising outcomes in mitigating mortality and morbidity associated with malignant cerebral edema (MCE).
