ÖZENÇ Betül , IŞIK Kübra , TAN Ersin , ODABAŞI Zeki

Neuralgic amyotrophy (NA), also known as Parsonage-Turner syndrome or idiopathic brachial plexopathy, is a multifocal inflammatory neuropathy that usually affects the upper limbs. The classic picture is a patient with acute onset of asymmetric upper extremity symptoms, excruciating pain, rapid onset of multifocal paresis often involving winged scapula, and a monophasic course of the disease.

[Behavioral Factors, Symptoms and Prevention Options are involved in the Development of Oral Cavity Tumors ]

SUKI Cintia Barbara, MOKA Eszter, NÉMETH Anikó

[The incidence of oral cavity tumors is showing an increasing trend, with cause including harmful behaviors, improper nutrition, and inadequate lifestyle. There are many known pre-cancerous conditions, the early diagnosis and treatment of which can prevent malignant degeneration. This is only possible if people conciously pay attention to their oral hygiene and do not neglect regular dental chech-ups. It is important to draw the attention of lay people to this issue in all areas of healthcare.]

[The path to the heart through the kidney. New perspectives for reducing residual cardiovascular risk – pathways and mediators of mesodermal cross-talk]

MÁCSAI Emília, VÁRADY Tímea, SZLOVÁK Edina, DOLGOS Szilveszter

[The continued high morbidity of cardiovascular diseases justifies the exploration of “residual” risk factors. During embryonic development, the cardiovascular organs, bones, muscles, kidney, and adipose tissue differentiate from the mesoderm, the remaining humoral and mechanical communication between cell lines partly explains the phenomenon of residual cardiovascular risk, and partly leads to the delineation of new therapeutic targets. Among the common factors in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis and atherosclerosis, inflammation can be highlighted, which makes the beneficial effects of biological therapy treatment understandable. The Klotho system and the AGE-RAGE axis are responsible for age-related systemic changes. Cardiokines, myokines, osteokines, adipokines, and hepatokines are molecular mediators of complex interactions between individual organs. In particular, the cardio-renoprotective effects of the GLP-1RA and SGLT2i drug classes already used in diabetology are part of the systemic beneficial effect. Similarly, blocking mineralocorticoid receptors with finerenone has a generalized anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-fibrotic effects. Regular exercise has always been recommended for cardiovascular patients, but now more and more mechanisms are becoming known that highlight the role of skeletal muscle in regulating the entire metabolism. Simultaneous use with the diet, it can be a simple and effective method to control the progression of cardiovascular disease.]

[Adaptation of low FODMAP  diet to the nutrition therapy  of diabetic patients with  functional gastrointestinal and inflammatory diseases]

SZÁLKA Brigitta, BÁLINT Levente

[Diabetes is considered as one of the leading chronic non-communicable diseases and a risk factor of further diseases throughout the world treating of which there is essential the properly designed diet. In addition to diabetes, inflammatory bowel diseases affecting the gastrointestinal system, further functional gastrointestinal conditions are also presenting an increasing trend. The low FODMAP diet (containing fermentable carbohydrates in low amount) developed by the research group of the Monash University in Australia has high medical evidence in the dietary therapy of the latter group of patients, which relieves symptoms in 3 out of 4 irritable bowel syndrome patients and in 78% of inflammatory bowel patients.
In our day-to-day practice, we often experience the co-occurrence of diabetes with functional or inflammatory gastrointestinal conditions. In these parallel cases, there is essential the coordination of the low FODMAP diet with dietary therapy of diabetes is necessary, which is a serious challenge for all patients. In this study we tried to answer the question of harmonizing the two types of diet and support its practical implementation.]

This study aims to investigate the validity and reliability of the Turkish Version of the 39-item Parkinson Disease Questionnaire. A total of 100 patients with Parkinson’s disease who were admitted to the outpatient neurology clinic in Koc University and Istanbul University were enrolled. 39- item Parkinson Disease Questionnaire, Parkinson Disease Quality of Life Questionnaire, Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale, Hoehn-Yahr Scale, and Short Form Health Survey-36 were administered to all participants.

Clinical significance of serum lncRNA H19, GAS5, HAR1B and linc01783 levels in Parkinson’s disease

OZDILEK Betul , KAYA Alper Ibrahim , DEMIRCAN Berna , TOMBUL Temel , ANKARALI Handan

Long noncod- ing RNAs (lncRNAs) are highly expressed in the brain and alterations in their levels have been shown in many neurodegenerative disorders. Evidence has shown that lncRNAs play role in the onset and progression of Parkinson’s disease (PD) and it can be used as a potential therapeutic target. Our purpose was to detect whether the serum levels of four candidate lncRNAs H19, GAS5, HAR1B and LINC01783 are related with the clinical findings and treatment of PD or not.
