Study on the relationship between peripheral nerve fiber types and levodopa usage in Parkinson’s disease

NAN LIU, JIE ZHANG

The aim of this study is to comprehensively determine the types of affected fibers in Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients by employing nerve conduction studies (NCS), sympathetic skin response (SSR) examinations, and current perception threshold (CPT) testing and to analyze the correlation between levodopa use and nerve involvement. This retrospective study included 36 clinically diagnosed PD patients who were recruited between January 2018 and April 2019.

Pembrolizumab-induced peripheral nervous system damage: A combination of myositis/ myasthenia overlap syndrome and motor axonal polyneuropathy

Immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) are effective drugs in cancer treatment that block immune checkpoints and stimulate an attack on cancer cells. However, various side effects were reported with ICIs. Peripheral nervous system (PNS) side effects are three times more frequent than those in the central nervous system. A 63-year-old male patient was admitted to our department with a 10-day history of dyspnea, diplopia, and generalized weakness.

Prognostic value of indoleamine 2, 3-dioxygenase-1 expression in glial tumors

KAYA Munir , AKSOY Asude , ARTAS Gokhan , KAPLAN Metin

Gliomas are the most common primary malignant central nervous system tumors in adults, exhibiting a poor prognosis. Indoleamine 2, 3-dioxygenase-1 has important functions in cancer immunotherapy due to its role in escaping cancer cells from the immune system. In this study we purposed to evaluate the correlation between IDO-1 expression and clinicopathological parameters in gliomas, and whether IDO-1 can be a prognostic marker.

Fibrinogen to albumin ratio (FAR) is thought to have a predictive effect in diseases such as cancer and myocardial infarction. We aimed to eluci date the prognostic value of FAR in ischemic stroke patients who underwent mechanical thrombectomy. A total of 103 patients hospita lized for acute stroke who underwent me chanical thrombectomy within 6 hours of symptoms’ outset have been analyzed retro spectively. Stroke severity was interpreted via the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score during the neurological examination

[Vanishing white matter disease, a rare leukodystrophy with mutation in the EIF2B5 gene]

SINKÓ Gabriella , TOMPA Márton , KISS Zsuzsanna , KÁLMÁN Bernadette

[Leukodystrophies, a heterogeneous group of brain and spinal cord dis- orders, often pose challenges in establishing molecular etiology. Vanishing White Matter Disease (VWMD) is a rare subtype of leukodystrophies presenting with characteristic clinical and MRI features, nevertheless, achieving diagnostic certainty requires genetic studies. Our patient is a nine year old girl, who developed progressive gait difficulties at around 3-4 years of age. ]
