New perspectives in neurosurgery: Augmented reality

ORBAY Péter, SIPOS László

Augmented reality (AR) is a set of different technologies, all aiming to project virtual content into the real environment, compared to virtual reality, where the user is immersed in a computer generated world. Neurosurgery has always been at the forefront of this technology, and gives the greatest contribution to the literature.

Brachial plexopathy due to the oncological radiation treatment related to malignancy?

ANDRIJA Savić, MILAN Lepić, ALEKSA Mićić, JOVAN Grujić, ALEKSANDRA Stojiljković, LUKAS Rasulić

Radiation-induced plexopathy is a debilitating complication that can result from cancer treatment, leading to progressive motor and sensory deficits. This study aims to assess the outcomes of surgical intervention in patients with radiation-induced neuropathy who did not respond to conservative treatments.

Intracortical mechanisms of after-discharges elicited by intracranial 50 Hz stimulation of epileptic patients

SZABÓ Johanna-Petra, HAJNAL Boglárka, SÁKOVICS Anna, ERŐSS Loránd, FABÓ Dániel

Rhythmic stimulation-induced discharges, known as after-discharges (AD), have long been correlated with epileptogenic processes. Nevertheless, the latent neuronal processes, as well as its exact relationship with the epileptogenic zone (EZ), are still poorly understood.

Investigating the Neuroprotective Role of Sigma-1 Receptor in DMT Mechanism of Action Using an MCAO Model in C57BL/6 and Sigma-1 Receptor Knockout Mice

ERŐSS Botond Ágoston, NARDAI Sándor

Ischemic stroke presents a significant burden of mortality and long-term disability globally, highlighting the pressing need for advancements in stroke care and therapeutic interventions. Despite notable progress in acute stroke management, effective neuroprotective strategies remain elusive, underscoring the urgency to address the devastating consequences of ischemic stroke.

Relief of degenerative scoliosis-induced back and lower extremity pain with spinal cord stimulation in polymorbid patients

NAGY Máté, JUHÁSZ Annamária, ZSUZSANNA Aschermann, KOVÁCS Márton, HARMAT Márk, KOVÁCS Norbert , BACSA Eszter, BERTA Balázs, SCHWARCZ Attila, BALÁZS István

Degenerative scoliosis, which is not relieved by conservative treatment, is mainly treated by direct spinal surgery. However, conventional direct spinal surgery under general anaesthesia may be associated with an increased risk of morbidity and increased surgical complications. The relatively minimally invasive spinal cord stimulation analgesia method, which can be performed under local anaesthesia, percutaneously and with less surgical stress, may offer an alternative and longterm analgesic therapy in such cases.
