[BACKGROUND - Randomized controlled trials (RCT) of acupuncture show heterogeneity in several ways. Acupuncture interventions used for the same conditions are greatly variable and so are study designs. METHOD - We evaluated the most frequently cited randomized controlled trials of acupuncture based on traditional Chinese medicine by examining practitioner background using elements of the “STandards for Reporting Interventions in Clinical Trials of Acupuncture”. The extracted data was compared with international guidelines and standards of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture education. RESULTS - We identified 5 heterogenous educational systems with contact training hours ranging from 120 to 3000. The educational criteria set by 93.75% of the reviewed trials did not meet the standards of the World Health Organization guidelines for acupuncture education or the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies standard for Chinese medicine education. Education in traditional Chinese acupuncture is internationally heterogeneous and this heterogeneity was found to be underreported in 87.5% of these trials, not provided for in study design. DISCUSSION - The generalizability and external validity of the reviewed trials may be questioned regarding the participating practitioners’ training background. In the future, a similar evaluation of systematic reviews could help further elucidate the issue of educational heterogeneity in traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture trials.]

[Anxiety disorders are the most common psychiatric conditions in primary care, but still the ratio of treated patients is low. Clinically significant anxiousness decreases work efficacy and quality of life, it can cause and often goes with somatic and other psychiatric comorbidities. Patients with anxiety disorders usually undergo many diagnostic tests and interventions turning out negative on all levels of the health system. The general practitioner has a significant role in diagnosing and assessing anxiety disorders, based on a focused history, tests for differential diagnosis and questionnaire screening tools. The generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) is highly prevalent in primary care, appr. 8- 10%, 2-4 times frequent in women. Treat - ment is complex, evidence-based methods are available as certain lifestyle modifications, psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy. A regular consultation with a psychiatrist colleague can improve the chronic care of patients with anxiety disorders.]

[Obesity represents a major public health problem in both developed and developing countries having rapidly increased in prevalence in the past two decades. Childhood obesity is of particular concern. Two of its associated diseases require special attention; metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes one of its components that are increasingly diagnosed in childhood. A key to prevention and treatment is healthy lifestyle. The importance of education to healthy lifestyle from early childhood cannot be overemphasized.]

[INTRODUCTION - Starting first aid education in early childhood can be an effective method of knowledge transfer. AIM - Our aim was to examine first aid education related opinions of kindergarten- and primary school children, educators, and parents. MATERIALS AND METHODS - 871 people (children, educators, parents) were involved in our study. Opinions were measured with self-administered questionnaires, containing mainly open questions. RESULTS - General opinion of parents and educators on first aid education in childhood were mainly positive, but they also gave negative ones. The majority of participants had a positive opinion about our completed program. Based on the opinions of parents and educators first aid education is recommended by health care professionals. Opinions were independent from gender, age, lenght of time of working with children in all cases (p>0.05). CONCLUSIONS - General opinion of parents and educators was varied, but it was generally positive concerning our program. Based on this results opinions can be changed with concrete activities. ]

[Aim of the study: Assessing the effect of health pedagogy and health development courses on the health concept of nursing students (BSc). The authors assumed that attending these courses will enhance the health perception of the students. Sample and methods: This follow-up study was conducted in September 2013 and in May 2014 involving second-year nursing students (N=61). Drawing and discussing the pictures provided the material for the analysis. Results: Physical, social and emotional dimensions were the most emphatic at both samplings, whereas after the courses the importance of mental, spiritual dimensions and society was significantly higher. The pictures were more detailed (p<0.001), the number of each dimension and their elements was elevated. The importance of living and natural environment was also present. Conclusions: Attending the courses in health pedagogy and health development enhances and broadens the health concept of nursing students.]

[Modern teaching in the schools of the XXI century is marked by terms of flexibility, innovation and requires the introduction of numerous innovations. Schools are required to modernize the curriculum and education technologies, and to leave the traditional teaching methods. Modern educational systems and teaching methods reflect the relevant didactic assumptions to improve the effectiveness of teaching. Emphasis will be put the changes that are designed to create independent and creative personalities. The attention in education is no longer a person who learn, rather the individual who is critical thinking, this is extremely important in the nursing profession. The nurse is the only profile of health workers trained in health care. They are a standalone members of the health team, in the area of its work with the necessary cooperation with other members of the health team. This paper analyzes the characteristics of modern educational systems and teaching methods to improve nurse education, especially problem-based learning and cooperative work, as an important segment in the nurse education. Analysing the modern educational systems, we expect results which will serve as a guide, how to change traditional „ex cathedra” teaching, to interactive and modern education.]

[The aim of the study: In addition, it seeks those methods which might help in keeping the patients motivated so that they participate in regular health education programs, and in calling their attention to the importance of their own responsibility for their health. Material and Methods: Out of the patients who took part in early rehabilitation after a heart attack, a simple random sample of 127 patients was involved (n=127). The survey was conducted by questionnaire and retrospective data analysis. For the analysis, khi2 test, correlation analysis was performed, where p was considered significant if <0.05. Results: 71% of the patients were over the age of 60, 87% were overweight or obese, 39% were smokers at the beginning of the rehabilitation, 85% suffered from hypertension and 39% had diabetes mellitus. As opposed to male patients, females tend to recognise the impact of lifestyle on health (p=0.004). Patients under the age of 60 were more knowledgeable with regards to medicine than patients above the age of 60 (p=0.000). Positive family anamnesis impacts views on lifestyle changes (p=0.01). Conclusion: In order to increase the effectiveness of health education, different methods are needed when teaching patients above the age of 60. Written materials need to supplement verbal information sharing. Patients with positive family anamnesis have already gained some knowledge, which needs to be corrected or extended as required. Nutrition consulting should be made more practical for better feasibility.]
