Az orvoshoz fordulás szélsőséges esetei közismertek: bizonyos betegek gyakran és szükségtelenül keresik fel orvosukat a legapróbb panaszokkal is, tüneteiket erősen figyelik és túlértékelik, miközben másokat egészségi állapotuk elhanyagolása, a tünetek észlelésének hiánya, azok elhárítása jellemez. A testi folyamatok, tünetek észlelése és minősítése, és ezen belül az egészségi állapot önmegítélése számos tényezővel mutat kapcsolatot: szorosan kapcsolódik kognitív sémákhoz, kultúrához, személyiségjellemzőkhöz, ismeretekhez, aktuális emocionális állapotokhoz, a reálisan fennálló megbetegedésekhez.

Ulcerative carpal tunnel syndrome (on-line)

The carpal tunnel syndrome is the most frequent compression- induced neuropathy. A severe but rare clinical manifestation of this disorder associates with ulceration, acral osteolysis and mutilation of the terminal phalanges of the second and third fingers. Recognition of this disorder is difficult, because various dermatological and internal diseases might lead to acral ulcerative lesions, and these patients are seldom referred to neurological and/or electrodiagnostic examination.

Fodor Mariann emlékére

Mariann was born 14th of November 1959 in Budapest, Hungary. She graduated as DDS from the Semmelweis University, Budapest (1980-1986), and she obtained her PhD degree (Medical) in 1992 in the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. As a postdoctoral research fellow/PhD student she worked in the Laboratory of Neuromorphology, Department of Anatomy, Semmelweis University (1986- 1991). After participating in short scientific training programs and short-term fellowships (Pécs, Hungary 1988, National Institute of Mental Health, Bethesda, USA, INSERM U159, Paris, France), as a postdoctoral research fellow, she worked in Paris in 1992-1993. From 1993, she lived and worked in Netherland. She was a visiting scientist in the Rudolf Magnus Institute, Utrecht (1993-1994), postdoctoral fellow in the Netherlands Institute for Brain Research, Amsterdam (1994-1998), postdoctoral fellow (1998-2001) then staff scientist (2001-2005) in the Department of Pediatrics, VUMC, Amsterdam. She became staff scientist at the Department of Anatomy and Embryology, University of Leiden, few months before she died.
