[Digitally-assisted treatment planning in precision oncology]


[The progress of molecular information based on personalized precision medicine has reached a new milestone. Actually, about 6 million mutations of 600 genes may be related to the development of cancer, and on average, 3-4 of these “driver” mutations are present in each patient. Due to the progress in molecular diagnostics, we can now routinely identify the molecular profile of tumors in clinical settings. By clinical translation, there are actually available more than 125 targeted pharmaceuticals and hundreds of such therapies are under clinical trial. As a result, we have many first-line and licenced treatment options to be elected by molecular information as the optimal one for every patient. There is an increasing need for complex informatics solutions by medical software. Geneticists, molecular biologists, molecular pathologists, molecular pharmacologists are already using bioinformatics and interpretation software on their daily work. Today, online digital tools of artificial intelligence are also available for physicians for assisted treatment planning. Telemedicine, videoconferencing provide solutions for interdisciplinary virtual molecular tumor boards, which democratizes the access to precision oncology for all doctors and patients. ]

The effects of the level of spinal cord injury on life satisfaction and disability

Introduction - Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) may often lead to significant disability in affected individuals and reduce life satisfaction. Herein we aimed to investigate the effects of the level of injury on disability and life satisfaction as well as the relation between life satisfaction and disability. Methods - Patients with at least one-year history of SCI were included. Demographic-clinical data of patients were recorded. The Craig Handicap Assessment and Reporting Technique-Short Form (CHART-SF) was used for quantifying the degree of patients’ disability. Life satisfaction was assessed by the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). Results - Of the 76 patients, 21 (27.6%) were tetraplegic and 55 (72.4%) were paraplegic. SWLS was found to be similar in tetraplegic vs. paraplegic patients (P=0.59), whereas CHART parameters such as physical independence, mobility, occupation, and total CHART value were significantly higher in paraplegic patients (P=0.04, P=0.04, P=0.001 and P=0.01, respectively). Social integration was found similarly high in both groups. There was a positive correlation between elapsed time after the injury and CHART physical independence, occupation and the level of economic sufficiency (P<0.01, P<0.01, P=0.01). Excluding the economic sufficiency (P=0.02), there was not any other association between the rest of CHART parameters and SWLS. Conclusions - According to our findings, although the level of injury seems to be influential on disability, it seems to have no significant effect on life satisfaction. Since the only thing that positively affects life satisfaction is economic sufficiency, more emphasis should be placed on regulations that increase the return to work in patients.

[Comparative analysis of job and life satisfaction among theatre nurses in Hungary and Germany]


[The aim of the study: The objective of the study was to assess and compare job and life satisfaction affected by workplace problems, stress, rewards, success and social support. We analyzed the coping strategies applied by the employees to solves the above problems. Material and method: The anonymous data collection was carried out in October, 2015 by applying AVEM and an own-edited socio-demographic questionnaire among theatre nurses from Hungarian and German clinics. Results: The employees evaluated stressful situations and problems differently in the two groups examined. Job satisfaction was equally important for both groups, but it affected life satisfaction of the Hungarian employees to greater extent. The stress management of the Hungarian employees was more effective in spite of the fact that German nurses used more coping strategies. Social support had a positive effect on overcoming the workplace problems in both groups. Conclusions: Job satisfaction of the nurses has a beneficial effect on their life satisfaction. The ability to divide work and private life and stress management are different among the nurses. Job satisfaction can be improved by workplace health promotion programs.]

[Interrelations of social phobia, trait anxiety, perfectionism and psychological protective factors in a young female population: Cluster analysis]

[Deterioration of social functions and quality of life and lower level of satisfaction with life are often joining to axiety disorders. Considering the higher prevalence rates across anxiety disorders for women, the aim of this study was to examine the relationship of social phobia with trait anxiety, perfectionism, use of pharmaceuticals, self-efficacy and life satisfaction in a group of young female participants. Online, self-administered questionnaire was used as a method of data collection at different social network sites. The sample consisted of young women aged between 14–35 years (N = 435, M = 27.3 years; SD = 5.9). The questionnaire con­tained items of socio-demographic variables, use of pharmaceuticals as well as mental background variables (Social Pho­bia In­ventory, State-Trait Anxiety In­ven­tory, Mul­ti­dimensional Perfectionism Scale, Ge­neral Perceived Self-Efficacy Scale, Sa­tis­faction with Life Scale). Besides correlation analysis, cluster analysis was conducted. rait anxiety shows strong correlation with social phobia, perfectionism and use of pharmaceuticals. After examining all variables three clusters were emerging: 1) high level of trait anxiety with social phobia, moderate perfectionism, low levels of self-effcacy and satisfaction with life; 2) trait anxiety below the average without social phobia, high self-efficacy and satisfaction with life; 3) trait anxiety above the average with moderate phobia, high perfectionism with high self-efficacy and moderate life satisfaction. Results of our study show that social phobia strongly interrelates not only with trait anxiety as a stable part of personality but with self-estimated lower well-being and lack of mental protective factors. ]

[Career Model of Primary Care Workers]

[The aim of the study: To assess the working conditions and level of job satisfaction of health professionals in primary care, and to explore key elements for a succesful career model. Methods: The cross-sectional survey was conducted between 12 March 2018 and 06 April 2018 among health professionals working in primary care, selected using a random, sampling method. The data gathering took place using a web-based, anonymous, self-completion questionnaire. For data analysis they used SPSS version 25.0 with Chi square test (p<0,05). Results: The sample size of the research comprised of 3740 persons, the average age was 44.87 years. The heath professionals are generally satisfied with their work schedule (74.8%), but they expressed the least satisfaction (81.5%) with their financial compensation. According to these survey results, pay is significant. 96.2% of respondents would like to be compensated according to new government-regulated pay scales. Conclusions: It can be stated that increasing the job satisfaction of health professionals and to elaborate the career model of them would be of crucial importance. Key elements of a successful career model offers benefits that are essential for health professionals retention: direction and motivation. ]

[Work Values Preference among hospital midwives]


[The Aim of the Study: The aim of the research was to explore the structure of work values among midwives. Material and Method: Cross sectional study was used with Super‘s Work Values Inventory from 13 hospitals across Hungary. Our questionnaire was divided into 370 midwives, 224 were evaluated. We calculated mean and standard deviation in descriptive statistical analysis. We did factor analysis; variance analysis and post-hoc LSD (Least Significant Difference) test. Results: The most preferred work values were altruism, finances and hierarchy. The level of education influenced the hierarchy of work values. The factor analysis separated two secondary factors: working condition and the self-realisation. There was a significant difference between midwives with OKJ education level and midwives with BSc degree (p=0,014), and other qualifications (p=0,033). Conclusions: Our results suggest that a higher level of education gives the foundation of professional competencies which enable the employee to take conscious consideration of other employee’s views in health care. ]

[Family medicine as a career. Medical students’ attitudes and vocational choice motivations]


[INTRODUCTION - The large number of vacant general practices is a burning issue in Hungary. The entering of new colleagues into the general practitioner speciality training does not pose a real solution to the human resources crisis in this field. Our aim is to assess medical students’ attitudes and knowledge about general practice. SAMPLE AND METHOD - Cross-sectional survey with self-completed questionnaires at the University of Szeged, with the participation of 94 fourth and fifth year medical students in 2016 and 78 first and fourth year medical students in 2017. RESULTS - In 2016 1% of students planned for sure, and 16% planned probably to work as a general practitioner in the future. In 2017 3.9% of first-year students planned definitely to be a general practitioner, and 15.4% planned that probably. Among fourth-year students 0% of students planned for sure, and 19.2% planned probably to work as a general practitioner in the future. Whatever the presence of family medicine in undergraduate training influenced the medical students’ opinion about the profession positively (0.4-1.3 on a scale based on the direction and strength of the effects of certain factors ranging from -5 to +5). Those who were interested in family medicine considered the situation of healthcare significantly worse (p=0.027), than those who were not interested. To make the profession more attractive the following factors may play the most important role: the more intense presentation (I: 37%) of general practice in undergraduate training, improving the prestige of family medicine (IV: 31%), high-quality work (IV: 39%). CONCLUSIONS - Few medical students plan to work as general practitioner in the future. The most effective way to raise interest in family medicine is to increase the students’ knowledge and awareness of this specialisation, and the more intensive presentation of family medicine in undergraduate training is a key issue.]

[The Future Nurse –Work Value Preferences of the Generation Z]

[To explore the work value preferences of nurses born after 1995 and those of different generations. The Super Job Value Preference Questionnaire was completed by nurses of different qualifications (N=106). In the analysis, we ranked the average of each value range to determine the rank, and also the standard deviation value. Preferred values for nurses of each generation: hierarchy, physical environment, ma­teriality for Baby Boomers; for X generation: altruism, hierarchy, physical environment; for the Y generation: altruism, hierarchy, security; and for Z generation: hierarchy, altruism, social relationships. We found differences in preferred work values between generations, and also found the similarities and differences among the generations. ]

[Examination of Parental Treatment among Outgoing Ambulance Workers]


[The development of the family, family relations and family socialization play a decisive role in becoming an adult and in the development of later forms of behavior. Parental treatment is closely related to problem-solving skills, which is why they can influence adequate responses to unexpected situations in ambulance care. The aim of the study: to explore and analyze the parental attitudes and behaviors that emerged during the upbringing of outgoing ambulance workers and can be related to the demographic, socio-economic characteristics of the study sample, as well as work, workplace and health behaviors. The survey was conducted between the employees of the National Ambulance Service and the participants of the National Ambulance Professional Section of the HHCP. In addition to demographic, workplace, and health status questions, the authors surveyed a shortened, 23-question version of the Egna Minnen Beträffande Uppfostran (s-EMBU) questionnaire developed by Perris et al. SPSS version 25.0 was used for statistical analyses. Types of analyses included descriptive statistics, two-sample t-test, correlation calculation, analysis of variance. The authors found striking correlations between religion, especially school graduation and female gender, as well as restrictive and gay parental treatment. The maternal rejection and paternal overprotection have been shown to be prominent among people those working in the capital, with the correlation that the “diversity” provided by the big city is particularly conducive to breakaway behavior and good social relationships. The parental restriction, as one of the characteristic parental behaviors revealed in our research, and its positive relationship with religiosity and higher school graduation in the part of Emergency Medical officers who work in higher positions raises the possibility that the professional appearance of helping and life-saving activities is influenced by religiosity and the resulting development of moral and social sensitivity during upbringing. ]

[The Course and Role of the Military Caregivers during World War II]

[Since the wars of the world, women have continued to play an essential role in the military and the workforce. During the World War II Hungarian women took up jobs in factories, warehouses, offices, and other locations that supported the wartime needs. However the work programs conducted on a voluntary basis did not reach enough workpower. As progressed, the need for more industrial workers became apparent and the government changed its policy regarding women in industry. It was announced in May 1944, that unmarried women between 18 and 30 years of age were called up for compulsory work. Special efforts were made to protect the health of these women. Dr. Mária Baloghy on 1944 introduced a new course based on the factory nursing program, to establish a paid military caregiver serving directly under the control of the Ministry of Defense.
